Welcome

Welcome to my little world! My name is Donna and I'm the mother of one very spoiled kitty named Clarice. I was a banker for over 20 years but now I'm a SAHM and loving every minute of it. I'm a super, huge Bon Jovi fan and an avid cross stitcher. I love decorating my home with flea market finds, primitive style items and vintage items. My hubby says if the last three generations threw it out as trash it'll end up in our house as a decoration.

It's spooky time!

My favorite time of year is upon us even if the temps haven't heard the news yet.  I took some time last week to drag out all my Halloween stuff and got to experience the joy of decorating my new home for the first time.  It's really been 4 years since I saw all my stuff so it was exciting discovering all my treasures.  As y'all might remember I had several large garage sales before the moves and I purged lots, lots, lots of stuff so I feel like I kept the things I love the most and it was great pulling it all out again.  I still ended up with 10 totes that are Halloween only and another 7 that are fall/thanksgiving that I didn't even pull out yet.  But I didn't do as much outside since the house sits below grade and we won't have any trick or treaters however I did have to do a few touches outside just for me.  My neighbor, Ofri doesn't understand why I would decorate the house so much when no one will see it and I tried to explain that it wasn't decorated for anyone else but me but don't think she understood that.  Halloween just makes me happy and I decorate to make myself, Mark and Clarice smile and if anyone else enjoys it that's just extra.  Oh well, I still go all out changing all the pillows, towels, pictures and décor in every room and here's your first look.  Now all us homebodies know that I'll be tweaking it until I pack everything away Nov 1st but here's a sneak peek.

I'll post pics later of the master bedroom, family room, guest room and bath.  Hope y'all will do something today that will make you smile and Happy Fall Y'all!

Estate sale goodies

"Oops!.... I did it again "   I'm not a Britney Spears fan but that's what popped into my head as I drove over 3 hours to Durham to attend a great primitive estate sale!  Gosh I really wish I could have met the collector because she had such great taste and her pieces were just gorgeous but sadly she passed away at a very young age (59).  I did meet one of her friends who said she was an amazing woman and everyone that ever met her loved her.  I hope people say nice things like that about me when I'm gone or at least love my collections half as much as I did.  Seriously I spent 2 hours at her home just wandering around petting all her lovely things and managed to pick up some wonderful things.

Just look at this egg storage cabinet.  Now I love all things chicken as you know so there was no way this wasn't coming home with me.

Drying rack which will hold my coverlets beautifully

This sweet cutlery carrier which isn't an antique but a very well made reproduction will house our dinner napkins for now.
And how could I leave without these coverlets.  I swear these need to be my last ones in my collections as I have more than enough but......well we all know how hard it is to stop so I can't promise anything.  I did leave 2 others there but they were sold by the time I left.

This is my first signed one and I swear I was swooning when I saw it.  It's been reinforced to help stabilize but that appears to have happened quite some time ago.

It was well worth the drive and here's a peek at what didn't come home with me.  Told ya she had a great eye and had quality pieces.....sigh.  But I'm very happy with my purchases and enjoyed my time chatting with the estate sale team and fellow collectors.
